First I would like to let Paul Erikson know that I'm no longer cursing him, after reading the Wobbit at the end of the book it said coming soon "Superfriends.......".I have spent hours searching the internet for it. Now in two sittings I've finished it, well in a couple days I'll read it again. What I want to know is where are the other two of the trilogy. I guess I will have to wait slavering like the dog I am. Please hurry though.The Wobbit and now the Superfriends are the finest parodies of JRR Tolkiens works. Anyone who isn't a fanatic plotting revenge (in their room at their mother's house, with his internet best friend) against the desecration of the holy books. Will love these books. A love of Prof. Tolkiens work is required to truly enjoy them. Also the writer doesn't stoop to innuendo, but takes the vastly more difficult road, Without being at all prudish. If you have never read one of his parodies read "The Wobbit" first and this book next. Buy them both because you'll end up reading them voraciously.

funny book
Hilarious parody of one of my favorite stories, totally enjoyed reading it and laughing out loud at inappropriate times ..
I found this to be super funny, but there again I am a fan of satire and comedy in general. If you need a good laugh and you love your fantasy novels, then I thoroughly suggest grabbing a copy of this book.
This is a very funny book, and I would recommend it to any Tolkien fan that wants a good laugh. Small moments in The Superfriends of the Ring made me recall similar passages from FOTR, so it was clear to me that Paul Erickson knows his Tolkien very well.
The movies are also parodied Jackson's and Bakshi's, and I won't dare give away how Erickson pokes fun at Bakshi's 1978 LOTR. I don't want to give away too much, but some of the highlights for me were the parody of Tom Bombadil, a very business-like council of Enron (with handouts!), and a certain encounter with "Derwin's Bane."
If you like Tolkien and actually have a sense of humor, you'll get a kick out of this book. Can't wait for the second installment!
OK, Board of the Rings was superior - but then this is just the beginning - hopefully there will be the two follow up books. My only worry is that I heard that the author had passed away - don't know that for sure but it's still an enjoyable/satirical/funny read.
After the Wobbit we see Paul Ericson continue his parody series which I think is the finest I have read out of all of the J.R.R. Tolkien parodies, lampoons , and spoofs. The characters continue to be selfish, self conceded, egotistic, and all about making buck when they can and saving money when they can't. I love how everything is about business and all of little earth is really one big corporate put together. The story flows together smoothly and the jokes are funny and practical. I love the series so far and I hope Erickson will be able to continue it in the future.
